Any update on this please? These wagons not seem to be running all through the night in clear contravention of planning rules – unless these have been massively relaxed.

If they have been relaxed where was the public consultation?

What is going in here?

Paul/ Michael

I have noticed a large increase in the number, frequency and running outside of core hours (Monday – Friday office hours) of the wagons running from/to Omega Proteins.

These all run through the village and even leaving aside the smelI was under the impression they were subject to a movements restriction.
Can you please look into this matter as that company and its owner has a track record of non compliance with planning rules and regulations.

Illegal Motorcycling – Bike Seized by Police – Cllr Lynda Cromie

Media Release

Bradford South – Queensbury Ward

Late at night on Sat 14th Feb and during the early afternoon of Sun 15th Feb, a number of residents in the Hillcrest estate area of Queensbury contacted Police regarding a group of youths riding a motorbike around the area. They complained of noise nuisance as well as the riders appearing to be too young to be able to ride legally and also not wearing helmets.

Officers from the Bradford District ASB bike team made their way to the area in plain clothes and located the motorbike being used by a group of five males. The officers watched them using the bike from a distance and saw them riding illegally around Hillcrest Road, riding too fast, trying to pull wheelies and not wearing helmets. The bike was a 50cc scooter and had no number plate fitted, causing the officers to suspect it may well be a stolen vehicle.

Part of the route being taken was a narrow stretch of road between houses so the officers made their way to this point and waited for the bike to ride past. Sure enough, one of the group rode along the same road towards the two officers and they were able to detain him on the bike. He was detained on suspicion of theft and the rest of the group made their way across to see what had happened. All were identified as teenagers living on or around Hillcrest Road.

The bike was seized for being used without insurance, the owner identified himself to officers and this allowed the rider to be de-arrested. He was then interviewed and reported for riding without a licence / insurance and all the group were issued with a warning under section 59 of the Police reform act.

Pc Hitchcocks said “Given the fact it was Valentines weekend, this group of local youths certainly didn’t show any love towards their neighbours in the manner in which they were conducting themselves! To act this irresponsibly on their own street just shows they had no regard for their community as well as other road users. The safety risks were obvious and should a collision with another vehicle or pedestrian have occurred, I have no doubt the rider would have made off from the scene without a second thought. This is a great example of the community working together with the Police to take positive action against the nuisance element.”

The rider can expect some positive action to be taken against him in the very near future by the Police and on speaking to the scooters owner, the bike will not be retrieved by him and will therefore be crushed at a later date.
